Lucky for you, we have you covered! There is no better way to explore New York City’s famous harbor than aboard one of Manhattan by Sail vessels. The two vessels operated by Manhattan by Sail staff are Shearwater and Clipper City.

Shearwater – Hand built in 1929 from native hardwoods, the 82-foot schooner Shearwater harkens back to a bygone era of yachting. One of New York City’s only floating designated landmarks, Shearwater has been taking New Yorkers and the city’s visitors sailing in the harbor since 2001.

Clipper City – A replica of the lumber-hauling schooners that drove America’s industry more than a century ago, Clipper City was built in the mid-1980s using plans purchased from the Smithsonian. An imposing 158-ft. long, with masts and rigging reaching up 120 feet from the deck, New York’s largest and most elegant sailing vessel can accommodate up to 134 passengers.

Trust me when I say is a great time! I’ve personally been on a few and have enjoyed it each time. Step outside of the normal club and bar scene and try sailing with Manhattan by Sail. With each cruise lasting close to two hours, you will be relaxed (from all the booze and water combo) and very happy with your decision.  Be sure to come back to the article and leave a comment on your experience on either the Shearwater or Clipper City.
