Last night, crowds of young professionals and art collectors gathered in the Guggenheim rotunda for the annual Young Collectors Council Young Collectors Party.

The annual benefit raises funds for the Young Collectors Council Art Fund to support the acquisition of works by emerging artists for the museum’s contemporary collection.

The night started off with an intimate dinner for the co-chairs (Sarah Arison, Nell Diamond and Alexandra Economou) and host committee in the Wright Restaurant. The party got started  at 9pm and around 9:46pm the rotunda was almost at capacity. Guests enjoyed the open bar and passed dessert as they danced to mixes by DJ Afrika Bambaataa. A pioneer of late 1970s and early 1980s hip-hop in the Bronx, Afrika Bambaataa gained popularity with his impressive turntable techniques and original combination of hip-hop and techno-pop beats, paving the way for the style of hip-hop and rap today.

For those that didn’t want to dance or needed a break from dancing, they had an opportunity to view current exhibitions: On Kawara—Silence and Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian: Infinite Possibility. Mirror Works and Drawings 1974–2014.

Major support of the 2015 Young Collectors Party was provided by David Yurman. Cocktails courtesy of DeLeón Tequila. As always the Young Collective Council never fails at hosting an excellent after-party that I’m sure will have people talking for days.
