Luxe Trend: Gold Watches

image

It is an old adage that a woman can tell a lot about a man from his shoes and his timepiece. In this day of change, that is one thing that still reigns true. Gold watches are still a statement piece for men and the gold that you choose fluently broadcasts your statement to the world. While gold watches have been popular for quite some time, they have recently made a big emergence not only in fine jewelry, but also in fashion jewelry. Some argue that Michael Kors single handily made wearing a watch necessary again. We wanted to share some of our favorite watches with you, while also highlighting the most popular gold styles.

Rose Gold (plated)

Rose gold is the new, well, gold. Everywhere you look, men and women alike have invested in a rose gold watch. MK, the leader of the rose gold fashion jewelry watch market, has developed minimalistic approaches with basic sophistication in moderately priced timepieces. This watch sports a larger face at a 45mm case, an hour, minute, and second hand and a date window. The rose gold offers versatility and can be dressed up or down (from your tuxedo to your favorite Levis). Our favorites: Michael Kors, Glam Rock, Burberry and Frederique Constant

Yellow Gold (plated)

With a 6 hand Japanese quartz movement including a second sub dial, chrono and date window, this 51.25mm wide case contains a hardened mineral crystal, external rotating bezel with countdown timer, and a screw crown at the 9 o’clock position for extra sophistication. Nixon, known for their affordable watches and functionality, introduced this watch for the gent who wanted to spruce up his wardrobe. Our favorites: Nixon and Rolex

White Gold

So maybe you want to be on trend, but you also want to buy a timepiece that will last for a lifetime, well, Bvlgari has you covered. With a 18kt white gold case and date spot, this timepiece is guaranteed to be a family heirloom. It features an anthracite dial and a stainless steel bracelet in addition to a three blades stainless steel folding buckle.

Gold avec (with) leather (plated)

Stepping away from their usual center dial trademark, this Movado blends leather and rose gold, providing a trend and staying power. Water resistant up to 3 ATM, this classic tongue buckle piece has Swiss quartz movement, mineral crystal and the leather is embossed with brown crocodile. Our favorites: Movado, Patek Philippe & Girard-Perregaux

Gold watches will continue to appear in the world of fashion jewelry, providing access to gold on several levels to whoever has a desire. As jewelry makers explore ceramics, tortoise shell, and even wood, there is no telling how the world of gold watches will expand.
