Arrested Development: A Prison Transformed into Luxury Living

Spending a night in jail is likely not at the top of anyone’s bucket list, but in case it is, there’s a luxury hotel in the Netherlands ready to serve you while you serve your “time.”  Used as a prison from 1863 to 2007, Het Arresthuis is now the setting for 36 rooms and 7 suites bathed in luxurious furniture, fabrics, and amenities.  In fact, there are 4 specialty suites that cater to anyone’s actual prison fetish.  Known as The Director, The Jailer, The Lawyer, and The Judge, they all feature modern furnishings and jailhouse detailing such as exposed brick and barred windows.  Other features on the grounds of the Arresthuis are a grand bar, the Restaurant Damianz, sauna and gym, as well as a central patio with olive trees, and herb garden.  This theme hotel could be just the right place to set you on the straight and narrow path, or it could be just the beginning of a life of crime in order to continue to live la vida lujo.
