Restaurant Review: Good Chemistry at Khemistry Bar

The food at Khemistry Bar is the perfect mix of fine dining and your favorite aunt’s kitchen.  Having just opened on January 1, 2015, Khemistry is off to a great start.  For $35 with unlimited mimosas, the brunch menu features items such as Salmon and Dill Cream Cheese Crostini  and Black-Eyed Pea “Good Luck” Salad.    Each crostini order comes with 3 lightly toasted crostini with a good portion of salmon.  The hint of dill adds the perfect touch to this appetizer.  My absolute favorite was the Black-Eyed Pea Salad.  This contains red, green and yellow peppers tossed in three honey mustard vinaigrette.  You’re going to need luck if you didn’t order this and think that someone will share theirs with you.

If you’re not sold by the appetizer, I can guarantee that the main course will grab you.  Short Rib Tacos topped with carrots and cucumber or a Siracha Shrimp and Grits is sure to leave you wanting more and wishing that the entrees were as unlimited as the mimosas.

The service at Khemistry is par excellent.  The waitress was well versed in the menu and kept our glasses full.  The bartender made it a point to learn our names and was accommodating when a patron didn’t want the unlimited mimosa brunch.  We were also given a personal tour of the restaurant along with their unfinished 3,000 square foot outdoor space called “The Lab”, the largest outdoor bar space in Bed-Stuy.  Once this space has been renovated, I’m sure that you won’t be able to get through the front door.

If you’re looking for a great brunch, Khemistry Bar gives you a reason to stay in Brooklyn and enjoy good food, good vibes and good Khemistry.
