How To Turn Any Home Into A Luxury Home

You don’t need to go out and buy a big mansion to have a luxury home. Believe it or not, any home can be turned into a glamorous one with the right additions or improvements. If anything, turning a house into a high-end one is better than buying an already high-end house. Why? Because the chances are you’re creating a luxury property in a place where there aren’t that many. As a result, your home stands out and becomes more valuable – it almost takes on a diamond in the rough effect.

Keeping all of this in mind, how do you turn any property into a remarkable one? Here are a few suggestions you could try. You don’t need to implement every suggestion – pick the ones you like the most or the ones that fit your budget!

Revamp the decor

First and foremost, consider revamping the home decor. To avoid confusion, we’re strictly discussing the wallpaper and colors used inside your home. A lot of older and outdated properties have funky wallpaper and utilize some boring colors. Instead, luxury properties are very distinctive in the way they approach home decor.

Step into any big house or new mansion and you’ll see the same decor everywhere. There will be a lot of whites and fairly neutral colors on the walls, floors, and ceilings. I guess the overall idea is to make the property seem bright and alive. A good idea is to try this in one room, to begin with. See the difference this makes before going ahead and revamping the whole home decor.

Implement modern technology

Another thing that separates high-end homes from regular ones is the presence of technology. Let’s face it, even in this modern age, most of us don’t have technology running throughout the property. We may have a few smart gadgets here and there, but that’s where the tech stops. If you were invited into a luxury home, you’d see a remarkable difference on the tech front. They are layered with different things that upgrade the property and make life easier for the residents.

It only makes sense for you to take these ideas and implement them in your house! What sort of things are we looking at? It may not seem glamorous but start with the security system. Luxury homes have beefed up security implementations – like CCTV cameras and access systems. An access system is a really cool way to techify your front door or gate. Instead of relying on a key in a lock, you could have a pin code or a fingerprint scanner. It just makes your home seem and look more important and high-end.

Dipping inside your house, you should focus on creating a smart home. Basically, you should be able to run your whole home from your mobile device. Everything can be turned on or altered at the tap of a finger from anywhere on the property. Tech will impress any guests you bring over, and it also makes you feel like you’re living the high life. Oh, and from a property value perspective, smart homes definitely get a boost if you ever wish to sell this house.

Transform your bathroom

This is the first of two ideas revolving around room transformations. Spoiler alert: the second idea is all about a kitchen transformation. For now, we’re focusing on the bathroom, which is such a brilliant room to renovate if you want to add a new sense of class and magnificence to your home.

Why is the bathroom such a great place to start? Because there are so many ways you can upgrade it to give it a look of opulence and grandeur. If you want to commit to a complete renovation, rip everything out and focus on developing a minimalist bathroom. Ideally, you’ll have a wet room in place and a really nice minimalist sink. Stick to the neutral color tones mentioned earlier and it looks out of this world.

Hotels are a fantastic source of inspiration here. Have you ever gone to a luxury four or five-star hotel? The bathrooms are always the best bit, letting you live a glamorous life for a few nights. Go online and look at some of the best five-star hotels out there, stealing ideas from the bathrooms. Try to replicate them and you will be on your way to grandness in the home.

Also, if you already have a fairly modern bathroom, you might not see the need in renovating the whole thing. Instead, a simple shower upgrade will work wonders. Look at some of the luxury showers out there and you will see how they instantly transform this room and make it more extravagant.

Transform your kitchen

Kitchens are right up there with bathrooms as the best rooms to renovate when you want to add some richness and splendor to a house. You only need to look at some great kitchen transformations to see the impact a new kitchen has on your home.

You’re trying to create a luxury home, so you need a luxury kitchen. This means installing high-end cabinets, great appliances, and lots of technology. Again, a minimalist, spacious approach is the best one. Create a sense of openness in a kitchen and really maximize the room area.

There’s a reason both bathrooms and kitchens are mentioned here. Sure, you have other rooms in your house, but most of these can be improved by simply altering the decor or swapping some furniture. Kitchens and bathrooms are the only two rooms where some serious work can be done. They’re also the only two rooms where you can experience true transformations after your renovation work.

Install a pool

Nothing screams affluence quite like an outdoor swimming pool. Have you ever seen birds-eye shots above the Hollywood hills? You’ll notice that almost every fancy home has a big swimming pool in the garden. If you have the space, it’s a wonderful addition to make – but there’s one key caveat.

A lot of homeowners make the mistake of buying above-ground pools. They’re the most affordable option and require less work to install. Unfortunately, they don’t look very glamorous at all! Seeing a massive tub in your backyard won’t look luxurious – if anything, it looks cheap. The right move is to get an in-ground pool installed instead. Yes, this requires extra work and investment, but it’s totally worth it.

With a pool like this, you have a concealed place to take a dip. It makes your entire yard look so high-end and fancy. Honestly, the difference between this and an above-ground pool is astonishing.

Get new windows & roofing

As we’re talking about pools and the outdoor area of your home, we may as well discuss the exterior design. Most people will only see your house as they walk by. Therefore, they’ll have no idea how luxurious it is on the inside. This means you should also focus on creating a luxurious look from the outside.

Ironically, if you don’t intend to sell your home and rarely have guests, focusing on the exterior design is the best thing to do. It gives your home the illusion of grandeur even if it’s pretty basic on the inside! There are plenty of things to try, but one that stands out is a window & roof upgrade.

New windows will automatically make your home look modern and brilliant. Get rid of the old and dirty fixtures and put some new bold ones in place. At the same time, work with a roofing contractor and upgrade your roof. A modern roof instantly adds class to a home and makes it stand out when compared to the other houses on the street. These two small additions will ensure your house looks like a luxury one and is the envy of all your neighbors.

Add a statement piece or two

Finally, you can round off your home with a statement piece or two. What do we mean by this? We’re talking about things that stand out and turn heads. This can be inside or outside your home, depending on what you prefer. For example, an exterior statement piece would be a statue or a fountain. Both ideas are incredibly extravagant and wouldn’t look out of place in a mansion.

Or, going back inside your home, a great statement is a chandelier. The word itself is synonymous with opulence and high living. You can’t say it without picturing a big impressive home. So, adding one of these in your entrance hall or living room will really make a positive statement.

There are loads of other statement piece ideas to consider; pick one that suits your home and your tastes!

And on that note, you’ve now turned your home into a luxury home. Anybody can do this – it just requires a little bit of effort, planning, and saving. Nevertheless, it’s completely worth it when you see how much better your home looks. If you want to stand out from the crowd and make your property the most impressive on the street, these ideas will serve you well.
