The London NYC Review

The London NYC Review

The London NYC is a boutique luxury 4 star hotel located in the heart of Manhattan’s Midtown area. Unlike many standard hotels, this hotel only has suites, which start off at 500 square feet. The London NYC is designed to engage both the discriminating business and leisure travelers in a personal suite experience entirely of their own making. The hotel is a member of Luxury Resorts and Hotels and the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association.

The London sits on 54th street, between 6th ave and 7th ave.

Check-In: Located in the lobby was the front desk for check-in, the concierge service desk, the entrance to Gordon Ramsey restaurant and the elevator shaft, which was located behind the check-in area. The check-in process was fairly simple. The standard, give the front desk attendant your name and card, for any incidental charges. The front desk will run your card and place a hold on your account( the hold lasts for about 4 days after check-out). The front desk attendant was pleasant, but just standard for anyone working in the customer service industry.

Hotel Room: (The London Suite): The London Suite is the hotel’s standard suite which starts off at 500 square feet. The suite has a 3 person occupancy maximum, which is really comfortable based on the size. The sheer size of the suite makes a great place for informal entertaining.

Foyer: The foyer was small in size, but a foyer nonetheless. The space featured a cabinet which housed the mini refrigerator and bar tools. On top of the cabinet were two trays that could be removed to place around the  room. Above the cabinet was a decorative round mirror.

Living Room: The living room was quite large. I was very impressed by the space and all that it featured. The living room had a custom half circle sofa, coffee table, an oversized work desk, a lounge chair, two floor lamps, a LCD flat screen television, a decorative tic tac toe game set and mirrored french doors leading to the bedroom. The curtains in the room worked on an electric system which could open and close at the ease of pressing a button. One thing that I noticed that was a bit off a turn off was several coffee stains on the table. It looked as it was never wiped off before I came into the suite as it was brown in color.

Bedroom: The bed featured a king sized bed with Filli d’oro Italian linens and hand-woven throws. In the room there was a large window with the same electric curtain system that was in living room. On both sides of the room there were reading lamps available. Tucked in a trunk at the foot of the bed as the iron and mini iron board.  In the room there was a space for clothes. It wasn’t a traditional closet, more of an exposed space, leading the bathroom, that had a rack, drawers and a full length mirror.

Bathroom: The bathroom was small,  but gorgeous. It featured an oversized shower and dual shower heads (one at each end of the shower) by Luxury Waterworks.

Customer Service: There were three occasions where I was really able to experience The London’s customer service. The first experience was during check-in (see above). The second experience was when I ordered champagne flutes for my suite. The phone attendant was very cordial and attentive. The champagne flutes took about 17 minutes to arrive. Not fast, but also not a terribly long wait. The third experience was when I returned back to my suite and noticed a bill in the foyer. I was shocked because I didn’t use anything from the mini bar. I immediately called the lobby, but no one picked up. I went to the lobby and spoke to the front desk attendant, who was extremely understanding, and she waived the additional charges.
