The Scene: Jean Shafiroff Hosts Elegant Reception Honoring Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center

Philanthropist, author, and television host Jean Shafiroff opened the doors of her New York City home to host an elegant reception in celebration of The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons and the launch of their highly anticipated summer campaign. The season will culminate in the organization’s milestone 25th Annual “Get Wild!” Gala, set to take place at the Southampton Art Center on Friday, August 1st, 2025.

Set against the refined backdrop of Shafiroff’s private residence, the evening gathered a cultured circle of animal advocates, philanthropists, and supporters, united in their commitment to wildlife preservation. Guests sipped curated cocktails and savored hors d’oeuvres while a live pianist provided a gentle melodic ambiance. Throughout the evening, attendees were invited to learn more about the Wildlife Rescue Center’s vital mission—rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing animals native to the East End back into their natural habitats.

In a highlight of the evening, Kathleen Mulcahy, CEO of the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, and Jean Shafiroff were presented with official citations by New York State Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright, recognizing their unwavering dedication to animal welfare.

During her remarks, Mulcahy expressed heartfelt gratitude, stating, “The Wildlife Center is so grateful to Jean for her support of both the Center’s mission and our 25th Anniversary Get Wild Celebration. With Jean’s generous sharing of her home, we introduced a new audience to our cause and we certainly hope to see many of the attendees here on August 1st in Southampton at Get Wild! further supporting the Wildlife of the East End.”

Shafiroff, known for her fervent dedication to animal advocacy, added, “I am delighted to host and underwrite this party in support of the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center. Their work with wildlife is vitally important to preservation of our ecosystem. As an animal advocate, I love their work and encourage others to learn more about the good they do.”
