On Thursday November 6th at Hotel Americano, the Young Patrons of the Harbor Charter School Benefit was held, this event was sponsored by the above group, which is dedicated to fundraising and supporting the 14 year old charter school located in the East Harlem section of Manhattan. LuxuriousPROTOTYPE staff had an opportunity to speak briefly with the event chair Arielle Patrick, who shared about her hopes for the event and its  ability to raise the awareness of the work that the Harbor School is doing and there recent gains on state standardized exams and student enrollment and retention. The stated mission of the Harbor Science and Arts Charter School “is to provide students with a high quality education through a rigorous academic program that infuses character building, physical wellness and the arts.  Students will graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in higher learning institutions and have the capability to make a positive contribution to society.”

One of the most important stats that the Harbor School boasts is, according to the Data Brief: NYC Charter School Performance on 2012-13 State Exams for English and Math, HSACS ranked as follows among charter schools:

The Young Patron’s event featured music by Mick and the beverage sponsor was Vintage Vodka. The evening was an opportunity for those who believe in the mission of the school and sit on its board; to mingle with their fellow Young Patrons and those interested in becoming involved with supporting the Harbor Charter School while enjoying cocktails and refreshments at the chic Hotel Americano’s downstairs space. The Young Patrons were able to raise over $7,000 at the event.
