LuxuriousPROTOTYPE had a front row seat at Fashion Loves Animals Benefit Fashion Show and Cocktail Party on Saturday, May 4, 2013. This special runway show featured animal-friendly fashions for men and women. The proceeds from the evening event went to support Farm Sanctuary, an organization that seeks to save farm animals that have, in many cases, been left for dead at meat processing plants or in the over-crowded barns of corporate farms.
Conceived and championed by fashion designer Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart. Hilgart, president and creative director of Vaute Couture, made history earlier this year with the first all-vegan fashion label at famed New York Fashion Week.
Saturday’s event showcased her fashions designed and made with a focus on plant-based materials. She wanted to make beautiful designs without sacrificing the functionality of her work. Other designers and corporations that support eco- and animal-friendly products and policies in their work came to the event to support Hilgart. These designers included: Love is Mighty, Brave GentleMan, and Matt & Nat. Brave GentleMan is a vegan menswear designer with beautiful suits and shoes made from sustainable animal-friendly textiles and materials.
