The Tie Bar for Father’s Day 2013

He has every tool that’ll fit in the garage, a watch for every day of the week and more billfolds than the law should allow. The cost of tickets for Super Bowl XLVIII are out of this world and let’s be honest, his team isn’t likely to go anyway. So what, may I ask, are you getting your pops for Father’s Day? Everyone’s dad is different so while yours might like a monogrammed money clip, mine would enjoy a ticket to join me at Lollapalooza. In either case, one thing is true: there’s not much time left to decide how you’ll try to ‘wow’ dad this year and leave him smiling satisfactorily at mom as if to say “you’re damn right I’m the favorite parent.” My endorsement this year goes to The Tie Bar.

Even the dad who goes to work dressed in khakis and a polo has a plethora of ties. Over the years he’s brought a few here and there for various events – the boss’ 50th birthday dinner at Ruth’s Chris, daughter’s ballet recital or Aunt Mildred’s funeral. A department store has probably been the go-to because they’ll render the best variety for the best price, mom thought. Well that’s only true if variety pertains to designers. Sure, discounted ties by Izod and Geoffrey Beene are a quick and easy solution to fixing a tie void without breaking the bank. Yet I’d argue that a dapper gentleman’s best kept secret is the Tie Bar. There aren’t many other places from which you can purchase an awesome tie, a pocket-square and cufflinks for under $50.

Whether he likes wool, silk, cotton or linen – bowties, skinny ties, long ties or traditional ties – The Tie Bar offers nearly every color, design and pattern imaginative. For the dad who can’t attire himself notwithstanding a game of golf, The Tie Bar also offers the accessories and furnishings to complete the look. I logged on to grab some ties for dad and grabbed a pocket round and collar bar for myself. Let’s say I’m celebrating for the children I have yet to conceive, or those that I’m not sure I have.

Aside from vintage shopping in Five Points (Atlanta), where my best friend snagged a gently used Prada necktie for $6, The Tie Bar has to be the best option for purchasing uniquely designed furnishings for men. 1. Nice, really like the pattern on that black tie bar. Can’t make out what it is, but I think it’s pretty slick. The usual gifts were given on Father days from me, but I think the tie bar does make an awesome gift. I don’t really see a lot of men talking about them, but their a nice touch to any man’s wardrobe collection. In fact I just wrote an article about their history, styles and what not awhile ago. ps. We have the same first name as well! Thanks, Brian. 🙂
