Check-In: My original check-in time was scheduled for 11:30am, however, New York parade re-routing pushed my arrival time to Noon. The check in was fairly quick. The front desk receptionist was warm and approachable. I felt welcomed and that she was truly delighted to have me stay at the Langham Place 5th ave. After providing her with my name, she mentioned to me that my room was being cleared out and that it would be a two hour wait. I was a bit shocked when she said two hours! However, immediately after informing me of my wait time, she offered me a complimentary beverage and lunch at Measure Lounge, for the inconvenience. Talk about customer service! I immediately forgot I had to wait for my room to become available. I checked my bags, had lunch and went out to meet up with friends. I received a call, less than 2 hours later, saying that my room was available.

Hotel Room (Executive Place – Empire State View): The hotel room was huge! The space included a foyer, living room, bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom.

Foyer – The foyer was large enough to be considered a bedroom in most New York City apartments. The walls were wood paneled with hidden closet doors.

Living Room -This room featured a complimentary mini bar that was stocked with sparkling water, still water and soda. The essentials were all there, two chairs, sofa, table and entertainment system. What really stood out was the wall on floor to ceiling windows that extended into the bedroom. The windows looked out onto breathtaking views of the Empire State building.

Bedroom – A large king sized bed was the main focal point in this section of the large space. The bedroom section led to the walk-in closet and bathroom. The closet featured wood paneling walls and shelves, similar to those in the living room and foyer. There was ample enough space for clothes, luggage, equipment, pretty much everything! Also, as an added bonus, there is an umbrella in each room.

Bathroom -The bathroom featured a sunken tub (large enough for two), glass shower with a waterfall shower head and separate room for the toilet. There were Chuan and C.O. Bigelow bathroom products strategically placed throughout the bathroom.

The room had three televisions ( living room, bedroom and bathroom (in the mirror).

Customer Service: The staff was very pleasant, warm and professional. Every time I called to the lobby or for a car, the staff always addressed me as Mr. Spurlock. From the bellhop to the attendant in the spa, everyone treated me like a king. The greetings and assistance seemed very genuine and not phony. This is KEY for customer service!

Langham Place 5th Ave. is great hotel for couples and solo trips because of the great location, large rooms, bar and spa. Walking out of the front doors of  Langham Place it what most people imagine when they think of NYC; taxis, pedestrians and tall buildings. Langham Place is also great for a staycation. For those living in New York City, its always good to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax. The Spa at Langham is perfect for escaping in your own city. Plus, waking up to views of the Empire State Building isn’t too bad as well. New York City visitors – I recommend staying longer than two nights. Staycation – One night will do.
