Tips for Traveling With Children

Life changes a lot when you have children. One of the big changes for parents is travel, as there are even more things to keep in mind than before. Luckily, some of the world’s best destinations are now catering to people who want to travel in luxury without leaving the children at home. Luxury travel with children can still be wonderful, but there are a few simple tricks to help you.

The Flight

You can still fly long-haul with children. Pack lots of snacks, toys, and activities to keep them busy. You can construct a ‘tent’ with a blanket and butterfly clips to help your child sleep in the bright lights of the cabin.

The Hotel

You need a hotel that understands a family’s needs without making it obvious. Look for a hotel that has it covered, from being able to help you secure entrance to nearby attractions, like Seaworld San Antonio tickets,  to a restaurant that can offer both kid-friendly options and a range of delicious gourmet dishes for the adults.

The Restaurant

Food is often a vacation dilemma. It can help to go to restaurants armed with distractions, so you can chat and enjoy your meal in peace. If you’re worried that your kids aren’t eating healthily enough, remember that you are on vacation. You can always supplement with vitamins so they don’t miss out while you’re all enjoying yourselves.

The Kid’s Club

Some parents want as many hours in the kids club as possible, whereas others prefer to spend their vacation with their children always in sight. A kids club can be a good way to entertain children with some more homely activities when you or they have got bored of making sandcastles. The best kids clubs have well-trained staff who can engage even shy children. Some resorts have restaurants with kids’ arts and crafts tables manned by their kids’ club staff, so you can eat dinner undisturbed.

If you do use the kids club, book the afternoon session. It might be tempting to book the morning session so you can have a lie-in, but you’ll have to be up to get the children anyway. If you’re in a hot climate, the afternoon is when the heat really kicks in and everyone can get tired and grumpy. In the morning, the beach is usually quieter, and you can have a leisurely family breakfast before the children can go and burn some extra energy for the afternoon while you relax. You might even be able to manage a lunchtime glass of wine. The best kids clubs will have an area for parents of children who may be less confident. Your kids can play without worrying about where you are, and you can relax with a book, guilt-free, but still in sight. Look for hotels with kids clubs that offer lots of different indoor and outdoor activities for kids of all ages. Some even have a cinema for movie screenings, or a space for teens with consoles, ping-pong, and table football.
